Poet, translator and essayist Anatoly Naiman has died at the age of 85. About it on Facebook reported his daughter, journalist Anna Narinskaya.

Nyman was born in 1936 in St. Petersburg. He began writing poetry in the 1950s. Initially, they were distributed in samizdat, in the USSR they began to be published only during perestroika.
During the Soviet years, Nyman also worked as a translator and was the literary secretary of the poetess Anna Akhmatova in the last years of her life. Subsequently, he published his memoirs about her, which were called “Stories about Anna Akhmatova.”
