The Law on Foreign Agents is designed to protect Russia from external interference; foreign agents should not be among journalists. About it declared Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin during the award ceremony for parliamentary correspondents on the occasion of Press Day.
“As for foreign agents, of course, they should not be among journalists. The law is designed to protect our country from foreign interference,” he said. “There are many questions here for the community itself, you take it, determine for yourself how we will develop the country without these foreign handouts,” he added.
At the same time, earlier the press secretary of Vladimir Putin named unconditional that journalists recognized as foreign agents can continue to work, including in other media, but “with the fulfillment of the relevant duties that are prescribed by law.”
According to him, the status of a foreign agent for a person does not mean a ban on work, and the media – foreign agents also continue their activities.
