The jury found the accused in the case of the murder of Yaponchik guilty 12 years after the crime

The jury found Dzhambulat Dzhanashia and Murtaz Shadania guilty during a meeting in the Moscow City Court – they were accused of murdering crime boss Vyacheslav Ivankov (Yaponchik) in 2009. About it informs Interfax.

Janashia and Shadania were charged on two counts – contract murder and illegal arms trafficking. According to RIA Novosti, the prosecutor’s office demanded to appoint Dzhanashia 16 years in prison, Shadania – 17 years in prison. In addition, Kakha Gazzayev was involved in the case; earlier he made a deal with the investigation and received 14 years in prison.

Shadania was in February 2020. According to the investigation, he delivered a sniper rifle to the crime scene near the Thai Elephant restaurant on Khoroshevskoye Highway and then handed it over to the killer who had hidden in a GAZelle car near the restaurant. The department believes that Shadania acted at the direction of the crime boss Ilya Simoniy, nicknamed “Makho” – the alleged organizer of the Yaponchik’s murder. The motive for the murder was a conflict over spheres of influence.

Yaponchik was active in New York in the 90s. The FBI hunted him for a long time until they found him in Trump Tower, where, as it turned out, he had his own apartment. In the report of the Spanish Civil Guard on the Solntsevskaya organized criminal group from 2016, available to The Insider, citing the FBI and other sources, says: “Ivankov maintained frequent, almost weekly telephone contact with Mikhailov (Mikhas), and both discussed joint projects and events in the criminal world.”
