In Lebanon, two of the country’s largest power plants were suspended due to fuel shortages, shutting down centralized power supplies. About it informs Reuters.
A government official told the agency that the Lebanese power grid was completely shut down at noon on October 9. “It is unlikely that it will resume work until next Monday or within a few days,” – said the source of Reuters.
He added that for the temporary operation of the power plants, the State Electricity Company will try to use the reserves of fuel oil intended for the army. The official also said that many residents of the country have started using private diesel generators, but they are in short supply.
Lebanon is currently experiencing a severe economic crisis. Over the past two years, the local currency has depreciated by 90%. In addition, the country is facing disruptions in fuel supplies from abroad and rising gasoline and diesel prices.
