13-year-old Japanese woman Momiji Nishiya became the first Olympic skateboarding champion

Japan’s Momiji Nishiya won gold in the first Olympic skateboarding competition Tokyo 2020. Nishia established this achievement at the age of 13, becoming the second youngest winner of the Olympics.

The second place was taken by the Brazilian Raissa Leal, who is now also 13 years old. Bronze in women’s skateboarding was won by 16-year-old Japanese woman Funa Nakayama.

On the eve, awards were drawn in skateboarding among men. The first ever Olympic champion in this discipline was also the representative of Japan, Yuto Horigome.
