This text leaves a very strange aftertaste. The impression is that the author is out of the context of the global agenda and absolutely misunderstands the nature of relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. These are two foreign countries that evaluate history and their own place in this history in extremely different ways. Moreover, the key difference between us is that we want to live in completely different types of socio-political relationships.
On the other hand, we in Ukraine are already accustomed to the fact that representatives of one or another ruling generation in Russia simply refuse to understand Ukraine and prefer to use historical clichés that were spread even under Soviet rule. More than thirty years of free historical discussions in post-Soviet countries and the maximum access to historical documents that Mr. Putin has have simply gone to pieces. As if there was no this time and this freedom – everything was wasted. And this article clearly emphasized the main thing – in the Russian Federation they did not understand what Ukraine is. And this misunderstanding, ignorance gives rise to fear among the Russian elite, which in turn requires a kind of “final decision”. And this final decision, alas, manifests itself in various types of aggression, including direct large-scale hostilities.
Of course, Ukraine does not expect the truth from the Russian leadership, and even more so a deep understanding of our historical differences. If the Russian leader considers it necessary to waste his time on such strange things as the production of lengthy and thoroughly propaganda articles, then this is undoubtedly his right. But historical responsibility before the fate of our peoples – Ukrainian and Russian – requires a completely different activity and attention to other things. To things that are relevant today.
The longer the war between Russia and Ukraine lasts – let’s call a spade a spade – the longer it will take to write texts for the Kremlin’s website in order to substantiate your propaganda interpretation of history. To justify their own aggressive actions and, one way or another, to compensate for their own complexes and fears. This article by Putin has more than 5 thousand words. So very soon you can reach 10 thousand words. They will not be accepted in Ukraine anyway. Ukraine expects only one thing from the Russian leader – the end of the war in Donbass, the fulfillment of its obligations and the real de-occupation of our territory.

So what to do? Vladimir Putin must understand that there is such a mood in Ukraine that if he wants war, he will get it. This is a situation where a horrible end is better than an endless horror. It will be a very difficult walk for the Russian army. This will be the moment when Ukrainians will rally. He made a political nation out of a post-Soviet country with his own hands. The second war will consolidate this political nation forever and make our quilted jackets a persecuted minority, and the Russian army will not be greeted with bread and salt, but with great blood, because no one is happy with them.
We have already passed the war and we know how to fight. This is all perceived as a great insult, they say, “that there are these Ukrainians, their language is funny, so let’s write in their funny dialect, let them screw it up.” This is another confirmation of the absolutely chauvinistic attitude of the ruling elites in Russia towards Ukrainians who want to be Ukrainians, who were Russian-speaking and wanted to live their own lives, and instead got a war. I will never forgive Putin for what I went through. And I will tell my children so that they will never forgive. If Putin wants war, he will get it, but it is better to let his Vaneks drown in Afghanistan.
