The International Triathlon Union imposed sanctions on the Russian Triathlon Federation due to the large number of Russians who violated anti-doping rules. About it reported at the World Triathlon Press Office.
“The World Triathlon Executive Board has decided to impose sanctions on the Russian Triathlon Federation due to the significant number of doping cases in Russia. The restrictions will be in effect for one year, World Triathlon will review compliance with these sanctions on a quarterly basis, ”the organization said in a statement.
Among the restrictive measures imposed on the Russian Federation are RUSADA’s mandatory testing of all athletes and the development of a training plan for Russian athletes and coaches on anti-doping issues. The Russian Triathlon Federation must also compensate and return the prize money previously awarded to athletes convicted of doping.
Also, the RTR until the end of 2022 loses the right to organize world or European triathlon competitions. Another mandatory requirement is the resignation of officials of the Russian Triathlon Federation from any posts for a period of one year.
Recall that in December 2020, the Russian Triathlon Federation was headed by the daughter of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu Ksenia. She was the only candidate for this post.
“I will try to do the maximum number of good deeds in this position”, – stated then Shoigu.
Ksenia Shoigu is 29 years old, she works as an advisor to the deputy chairman of the board of Gazprombank and manages the League of Heroes project, which organizes mass sports events. The League’s annual turnover is about 200 million rubles. Sponsorship of Shoigu’s daughter is provided by the Kalashnikov concern, Russian Railways and other state-owned companies.
