Oleg Tinkov pleaded guilty in a US court on one of the charges brought against him in a tax evasion case. This happened in accordance with an agreement concluded with the US Department of Justice.

Judge John Tigar has scheduled the sentencing of the Russian businessman on October 29.

Oleg Tinkov agreed to pay $ 506 million, said his lawyer Christopher Morvillo. This money will be transferred even before the verdict is pronounced.

Representative of Tinkov said RBC that the businessman does not plan to reduce the stake in TCS Group to pay the fine. “Oleg has enough funds to pay the full fine now without having to sell his TCS shares,” the spokesman explained.

The claims of American justice against Tinkov became known in March 2020. According to the US Department of Justice, when renouncing American citizenship in 2013, he hid $ 1 billion in income and assets from the American authorities and did not pay taxes. Tinkov faced up to six years in prison.

At the end of February, the US Internal Revenue Service demanded the extradition of Tinkov, who at that time was in London. The businessman remained at large, having paid a bail of £ 20 million, but he was restricted in movement. Shortly thereafter, he announced that he had leukemia. In July, Oleg Tinkov underwent a bone marrow transplant, and in December he reported complete remission.

In the Forbes ranking at the end of 2020, Oleg Tinkov ranks 27th with a fortune of $ 4.7 billion.
