A physician accused of stealing money from an intensive care patient’s account was detained in the Murmansk region

Law enforcement officers of the Kandalaksha of the Murmansk region detained a medical worker who is suspected of stealing money belonging to one of the patients of the hospital’s intensive care unit. The man was sick with coronavirus and died in a hospital.

According to the investigation, the patient born in 1962 was in the intensive care unit of the Murmansk Regional Clinical Hospital named after Bayandin from 4 to 9 August. Upon admission to the ward, the man had a mobile phone, documents, a bank card and money. They disappeared. And on August 9, 81 thousand rubles were stolen from the victim’s accounts by transferring through a mobile bank to another bank card. Later, they tried to get a loan for him in the amount of over 300 thousand rubles, informs site of the regional administration of the RF IC.

Investigators questioned witnesses, demanded data on the movement of funds on the victim’s bank accounts, information on connections made using the victim’s mobile phone. They also examined the CCTV footage and identified the suspect. It turned out to be an employee from among the junior medical personnel born in 1988. He was charged with theft from a bank account (clause “d”, part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code). At the moment, the suspect is under recognizance not to leave and proper behavior.

Earlier about stealing things from intensive care reported in social networks, the patient’s son Ivan Gordeev. He discovered the loss when he wanted to withdraw money from his card for the funeral of his father. Then, in the hospital, the son’s belongings were not given to the deceased (even a silver chain and a string with a small icon disappeared), saying that they were not in the institution.

For a long time they did not want to give the body of the deceased to the relatives, since his missing passport was required for registration. A few days later, the body was still released from the morgue, although the document was never found. According to Gordeev, no one apologized to the family. “The staff of this hospital emphasized that people who came almost from the street work in the“ red zone ”, behaved rudely and unprofessionally,” he said.
