In Crimea, the investigation has toughened the accusation against the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelyal in the case of damaging the gas pipeline near the village of Perevalnoye. About it informs “Crimean Solidarity”.
Instead of complicity in sabotage, Dzhelyal is charged with committing sabotage (part 1 of article 281 of the Criminal Code). The investigation took a non-disclosure agreement from the lawyers.
Asana Akhtemova was also charged with tougher informs lawyer Nikolay Polozov. “An organized group of persons and the acquisition and storage of explosives by a group of persons were added to the previously charged charges of ‘committing sabotage,’” he wrote on Facebook.
On September 6, the Kiev court of Simferopol arrested Dzhelyal for two months, as well as the brothers Aziz and Asan Akhmetov, who were detained during searches on September 3-4 in the case of “damaging the gas pipeline.” Their relatives were also sent to the pre-trial detention center: the father of Eskander Akhmetov for 10 days, and his brother, Arsen Akhmetov, for 15 days. The court found both of them guilty of disobedience to the police (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code). They were detained on September 4 near the FSB building.
Safiye Shabanova’s lawyer said she could not see Aziz Akhmetov. He refused her protection by agreement. “Both of them – Aziz and Asan – are clearly very intimidated, do not raise their heads, do not make any contacts. <...> I believe that they are under some kind of, if not physical, then under psychological influence, “- said the defender.
Shabanova did not notice traces of torture, but pointed out that Aziz Akhmetov was brought to the court in closed clothes with long sleeves. “He is very haggard, they drop their eyes to all questions. <...> They behave absolutely inadequately, ”she said.
Earlier, on September 4, security officials spent in Crimea, searches, as a result of which several people were detained.
“At first, five were detained, including the deputy head of the Mejlis, and then the father of one of the detainees, Abiz Astemov, and his brother were also detained,” human rights activist Zair Smedlya told The Insider. “Most likely, a new administrative case will be instituted against them, and, probably, they will also be accused of non-compliance with the lawful demands of a police officer, and then there will be trials against Astemov’s father and Nariman. People who came to support them are detained for non-compliance with sanitary requirements – this despite the fact that people are dispersed so as not to violate this sacred social distance and mask regime. At the same time, a large-scale festival of up to 6 thousand participants is planned to be held in Crimea. That is, one is allowed everything, while others cannot even gather near the courthouse. It is clear that the coronavirus spreads only to Crimean Tatars, and fines too, ”the human rights activist said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case on deliberate destruction or damage to property (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code). In Simferopol, on September 4, the police detained about 40 people who went to the FSB building to support the detained fellow countrymen. “Crimean Solidarity” reportedthat 58 protocols were made on the detainees.
