The Central Bank of Afghanistan ordered all banks in the country to introduce a limit on withdrawals from personal accounts of clients in the amount of $ 200 per week. About it informs local agency The Khaama Press with reference to the regulator’s directive.

The Central Bank noted that the decision is temporary and was made against the background of financial difficulties in the country. The regulator also called on all banks in the country to resume work, and also reminded the owners of the companies about the possibility of making electronic transfers.

On the eve, several hundred people took to the streets of Kabul to protest over the closure of banks and currency exchange offices across the country. Most of the protesters demanded that they be given at least some part of their funds held in their accounts. The owners of financial institutions said they would not be able to resume work in the previous regime until the Central Bank opens.

Despite the fact that the Taliban terrorist movement that seized power in Afghanistan announced the reopening of all banks in the country starting from August 25, almost all financial institutions in Afghanistan remain closed. Many bank employees never returned to work for security reasons.
