Australian authorities have confirmed two new deaths associated with the use of the vaccine by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca. About it reported Broadcasting Corporation ABC citing a statement from the country’s pharmaceutical regulator.
A 44-year-old man from Tasmania and a 48-year-old woman from Victoria state have died. The regulator confirmed that the death of two patients “due to a rare bleeding disorder” was caused by the vaccine.
To date, just over 6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered in Australia. Over the entire period of use of the drug since February 22, 2021, the country’s authorities have confirmed six deaths resulting from the vaccine.
Two vaccines against coronavirus are currently registered in Australia, these are drugs from Pfizer and AstraZeneca. According to the Federal Ministry of Health of the country, at the moment about 10.5 million people (more than 40% of the population) have received the first of two doses of the vaccine, 2.9 million people (11.6% of the population) have been fully vaccinated.
