Marlen Baimagambetov, a farmer released from detention after rallies in Aktobe told Orda_kz that in the police department he was beaten with batons and tortured with an electric shock, and also forced to squat, do push-ups and walk with a goose step.
How informed Orda_kz, On January 10, Baimagambetov was detained and taken to the department. The man was accused of urging people to participate in the protests via WhatsApp on January 5. As a result of the administrative court, where his father and lawyer were not allowed, Baimagambetov was arrested for 15 days.
According to Baimagambetov’s colleagues, his detention and arrest are connected with the fact that during the protests he appeared on the square in front of the Aktobe akimat. According to them, he and other farmers saved the building from looters. More than 200 members of the “Association Farmers Center” appealed to the authorities demanding the release of Baimagambetov. On the tenth day of serving the arrest, the man was released. After that, he stated that he was repeatedly tortured in the police department.
“I was beaten and accused of having allegedly set fire to a gas station in Alga (a city near Aktobe) and was involved in the death of people. They perverted in every possible way, tortured them with electric shocks and beat them with batons, forced them to do squats, push-ups, goose-stepping around the gym. During the first day of detention, he was tortured repeatedly. They started accusing me of organizing a rally near the regional akimat, although I didn’t do anything like that,” Baimagambetov said.
