Colleagues of Alexei Navalny Ivan Zhdanov and Leonid Volkov reported that they received suspicious letters sent from the post office at Vnukovo airport to their home addresses. They believe that in this way they are trying to inform them that in Russia they know about their place of residence, so that they do not feel safe.
“There are just some jokes, like – isn’t it time for you to go home? You won’t go to the police with this, you’ll look ridiculous. The point is to say: “Guys, we know where you live, even though you are not in Russia. And this means that the next such letter may contain poisonous powder or a bomb or something else. We want you, Leonid Volkov and Ivan Zhdanov, to feel safe where you live now, ”Volkov said on the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel.
According to Volkov, the letters arrived at the same time as making him and Zhdanov in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring, this happened on January 14. In a conversation with The Insider, Zhdanov noted that the inclusion on the list did not come as a surprise to him.
“They used to announce “foreign agents” on Fridays, now they will announce “extremists” and “terrorists”. It has long been clear that in Russia there are three gradations: “foreign agent”, “undesirable organization” and “extremist” or “terrorist” (in fact, they are equal to each other). We are pioneers in almost all of these gradations. Leonid and I, from obvious political activists, became pioneers in this list of Rosfinmonitoring. This will now be accepted political practice. It may happen that, for example, in six months, the recognition of a new “extremist” or “terrorist” every Friday will no longer be any special news, as is now happening with the inclusion of “foreign agents” on the list. What does this inclusion mean to me in a practical sense? Perhaps nothing. I had practically no money on accounts in Russian banks, ”added the ex-head of the FBK.
