The cyberattack on the state websites of Ukraine, which was carried out on the night of January 14, was carried out by the hacker group UNC1151, associated with the Belarusian special services. About this agency Reuters declared Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demedyuk. According to him, during this attack, malware was used, similar to that previously used by a hacker group associated with Russian intelligence.

Earlier, Ukrainian officials said Russia was likely involved in the attack, but did not provide details.

Demedyuk added that the change in the appearance of the sites was most likely just a cover “for more destructive actions that took place behind the scenes and the consequences of which we will feel in the near future.”

As a result of the hack, which was carried out on the night of January 14, the portals of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Ecology and other departments stopped working. They appeared appeal in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish with calls to Ukrainian citizens “to be afraid and expect the worst.” The appeal stated that all the personal data of Ukrainians were “uploaded to the general network,” RBC reports.
