Unidentified people made the inscription “inoogent” on the door of the gallery owner Marat Gelman’s apartment in Moscow. About it in the Telegram channel informed head of the international human rights organization “Agora” Pavel Chikov.
Gelman was included in the register of media-foreign agents on December 30, 2021. On the same day, the list included writer and publicist Viktor Shenderovich, activist Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, activist Veronika Nikulshina, editor-in-chief of the Kholod publication Taisiya Bekbulatova, journalist Ivan Belyaev, journalist Elena Vladykina and CEO cinema club “Oil” Andrey Alekseev.
Viktor Shenderovich later left Russia. In an interview with The Insider, he notedthat the pressure in Russia continues to grow and this trend will not change yet:
“People who are ready to earn money themselves, who do not have to sit on someone’s neck, are free and strong people. These people turned out to be superfluous in Putin’s Russia, and this happened a very long time ago. The last year after the attempted murder of Navalny and his arrest, this is already the final coming-out of the Putin regime, a transition to a completely different, already openly criminal plane. Putin no longer has an agenda other than violence. Except racket outside and inside. Therefore, the pressure increases. You see that the attack is no longer on politicians—there are no more politicians—but simply on free people, on institutions. Here is HSE, here is Shaninka, here is Memorial, here are journalists, here are free people. This attack has been going on for a long time, it’s just that quantity turns into quality.”
Veronika Nikulshina in conversation with The Insider named inclusion in the register “by the criminal intention of the Russian authorities in an attempt to silence people.”
