In Kostroma, after the murder of a five-year-old girl, a criminal case of negligence was opened against the police. About it informs RIA Novosti with reference to the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin.
According to investigators, the police did not properly exercise the administrative supervision established by a court decision for those released from the colony.
On January 4, a five-year-old girl went for a walk on Severnaya Pravda Street, where she was abducted by two men. Later, the child’s body was found in a room in one of the local hostels.
The police detained two suspects – 44-year-old Denis Gerasimov and 24-year-old Vadim Belyakov. They admitted that they abused the girl, after which they killed her. Gerasimov was previously convicted of pedophilia and the production of child pornography, Belyakov – for stealing money from a bank account.
According to the court decision, Gerasimov was to be under administrative supervision for a year and a half after leaving the colony. The Ministry of Internal Affairs claimed that police officers regularly checked him.
Gerasimov and Belyakov were arrested under articles on rape (Article 131 of the Criminal Code), sexual assault (Part 5 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code) and murder (clauses “c, g, j” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). They face life imprisonment.
