Russia continues to build up its military forces on the border with Ukraine, informs Bloomberg citing satellite imagery from Janes, a defense and reconnaissance company.
Since November, according to Janes, Russia has moved tanks, artillery weapons, and air defense systems to border areas. The photographs also included military personnel and equipment, however, according to experts, “Russia will be able to quickly and secretly” deploy additional forces with the help of trains or planes.
In addition, Bloomberg cites a statement by the Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Alexei Danilov, who on December 22 estimated the number of Russian military personnel in the border areas at 122 thousand people.
Earlier, CNN, citing unnamed American officials, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering a wide range of possible sanctions in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, in particular, it may be about disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT payment system.
