The Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov suggested fining petty corrupt officials and not bringing the case to court. About this he stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Legal problems were being solved, including the possibility of applying the institute of exemption from criminal liability for commission of crimes of small and medium gravity with the appointment of a court fine,” Krasnov said.

According to him, the relevant amendments to the legislation, designed to “limit the possibilities for the courts to consider criminal cases on corruption offenses in this manner,” have already been prepared. He also noted that while working on the amendments, the Prosecutor General’s Office succeeded in “organizational measures” to reduce the number of such criminal cases from 1,113 to 484.
