“He defended the purity of the nation.” In Novosibirsk, it was proposed to install a bust of a participant in Stalin’s repressions

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Novosibirsk Region proposed to install in Novosibirsk a bust of the Prosecutor General of the USSR Roman Rudenko, who, during the reign of Stalin, signed protocols on mass executions. About it informs “Rain” with reference to the director of the Siberian Center for the Promotion of Architecture Tatiana Ivanenko.

She said that the prosecutor’s office proposed to install the bust at the building of the Siberian Institute of Management of the RANEPA on Nizhegorodskaya Street. Members of the city artistic council opposed the installation of the monument.

At the same time, when submitting the application, the prosecutor’s office submitted a certificate about Rudenko, which was “surprisingly short”. Ivanenko clarified that it did not say, in particular, that in 1937-38 Rudenko was part of a special troika of the NKVD, and in the 70s he was preparing documents for the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee on the persecution of dissidents.

“I was struck by the short but capacious speech of the deputy of the Council of Deputies of Novosibirsk, Sergei Valentinovich Bondarenko. He called the repression measures that were carried out with the aim of “protecting the purity of the nation.” What is this? ” – said Ivanenko.

Roman Rudenko was a member of the NKVD troika in the Donetsk region of the Ukrainian SSR, his surname appears in the order of the NKVD of July 30, 1937. This document launched massive repressions against “former kulaks, criminals and other anti-Soviet elements.” In the order signed by Rudenko, specific figures were given – to shoot 82,700 people, send another 193,400 people to the camps. At the same time, there is no complete information about how many death sentences Rudenko endorsed.
