An administrative offense, according to which Roskomnadzor drew up a protocol with respect to the GitHub web service, is related to the refusal to delete Smart Voting data, stated in a court.
Now the service faces a fine of up to 4 million rubles.
The web service is charged with a violation under the article “failure to delete information on the Internet by the owner, if the obligation to delete it is provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation.” In September, the Smart Voting website was blocked in Russia and entered into the register of information prohibited in Russia.
Earlier today it was reported that a new protocol on an administrative offense against Twitter, drawn up by Roskomnadzor due to the refusal of the social network to remove prohibited content, was submitted to the Moscow Magistrates’ Court.
The Twitter and GitHub court hearings will take place in court on December 23rd.
Google, Telegram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok have more than once been prosecuted in Russia for failure to remove prohibited content (Article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The amount of fines against all foreign companies since the beginning of the year has already exceeded 200 million rubles.
