The Russian authorities have registered the Sputnik M vaccine against COVID-19, which will be administered to children aged 12 to 17 years. About it informs TASS with reference to Denis Logunov, Deputy Director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamaleya.
“Today we have received permission to use Sputnik in the child population, the vaccine has received registration, we can share this joyful fact,” he said. The vaccine was developed at the Gamaleya Center.
Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that minors will be vaccinated with the consent of one of the parents or the teenager himself if he is over 15 years old. It is planned that the drug will go into civilian circulation at the end of December.
In July, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Anastasia Rakova announced the start of research on the Sputnik V vaccine for adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. As part of the trials, they were injected with the drug at a lower dosage than adults. Currently, five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the Russian Federation – Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, KoviVak and EpiVacCorona-N.
