The Austrian authorities are introducing a lockdown for residents who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus. About it reported Chancellor of the country Alexander Schallenberg.
“This decision was not easy for us, but it is necessary,” Schallenberg said.
The measures will apply to unvaccinated people aged 12 years and older. Such citizens are prohibited from leaving their homes, except to grocery stores and pharmacies. The authorities will allow those who have not been vaccinated to go outside only to play sports, as well as receive medical assistance.
The authorities said they would consider canceling the lockdown after 10 days.
The day before, more than 13 thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Austria, which was the highest figure in the country for the entire pandemic. Around 65% of the population has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus in Austria.
