On the evening of October 18, security officials broke into the crisis shelter “Mother’s House” in the capital of Tatarstan and took away two adult girls who had arrived from Dagestan and asked for help. One of the missing has a two-year-old daughter told “Novaya Gazeta” founder and head of the charitable foundation “Good Deeds” Aliya Bainazarova.
“At four o’clock in the morning, girls from Dagestan came to us. They were forced to flee their hometown, she added. “They had the intention of starting a new life.”
Baynazarova explained that the police broke into the shelter without introducing themselves: “We went to“ Mother’s house ”as if they were home, opened everything wide, took the girls as things and took them to their police station”.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan said that it was “the first time they heard” about the detention of girls.
According to Baynazarova, the father of one of the girls is an Islamic preacher.
Human rights activist Svetlana Anokhina added that both girls had “quite unhappy” lives. “A complete ban on any kind of freedom is minimal, you cannot leave the house without the permission of your husband. They both got married because it’s time, ”she said.
According to Anokhina, after the visit of the security forces, the girls did not get in touch for about an hour. And then they contacted her and said that supposedly everything was fine and that “there is no need to make a fuss.”
“I do not believe for a second that these statements are voluntary,” the human rights activist stressed.
“We talked with these girls for a year, for a year they confirmed their desire to ask for help.”
Anokhina is convinced that the girls were tracked down and taken away by the Kazan security forces. The Dagestani women were first taken to the department, then handed over to their parents, and now they are at the home of one of the relatives in Kazan. Soon they will be taken to Dagestan, the human rights activist believes.
