Russia may introduce new rules for electric scooters

In Russia, it was proposed to introduce electric scooters and other means of individual mobility into the traffic rules. As RIA Novosti writes with reference to the draft resolution, it is proposed to limit the maximum speed and the mass of vehicles that can be driven along the same road with pedestrians.

The amendments to the traffic rules were drawn up by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport. In addition to electric scooters, they apply to electric skateboards, gyro scooters, segways and other similar means.

The authorities propose to limit the maximum speed for them to 25 km / h, and the mass of funds that can be used on the same road as pedestrians is 35 kilograms.

As stated in the project, children under 7 years old will be able to ride bicycles and electric scooters on sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle paths only when accompanied by adults.

At the same time, they want to allow adults and adolescents over the age of 14 to ride electric scooters on the side of the road or on the right edge of the carriageway, but only in the absence of sidewalks and footpaths, where there is a speed limit of up to 60 km / h on the road.
