The Investigation Department of the city of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Region, opened a criminal case on the fact of illegal hospitalization of Angelica Gagulina to the Cheremkhovo branch of the Irkutsk Regional Psychoneurological Dispensary in January 2020. About it informs “Public verdict”.
According to the human rights organization, the police forcibly took Gagulina to the hospital, despite the fact that she had a minor child at home. She was held in the hospital without a court order for a week. As the Public Verdict writes, later the court sided with Gagulina and refused to satisfy the request of the head of the hospital.
In addition, after discharge, Angelica underwent a forensic psychiatric examination, which established that she did not have chronic or temporary mental disorders. After leaving the medical facility, Gagulina also filed a complaint with the IC against the police officer and doctors, but a criminal case was opened only after Gagulina visited the head of the regional investigation department in September 2021.
On October 4, it became known that the missing Yakut shaman Alexander Gabyshev, who was attempting to organize a “campaign against Moscow” with the aim of “expelling Putin”, was sent to the Novosibirsk psychiatric hospital of a specialized type with intensive supervision. For the first time since Soviet times, a punitive psychiatry machine has been spinning, and a completely normal person who poses no danger to society turned out to be in a psychiatric hospital, Aleksey Pryanishnikov, a public defender of Gabyshev, told The Insider.
