A person accused of fraud in the execution of a state contract in the Krasnodar Territory has been extradited from Spain to Russia, said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk. The damage is estimated at hundreds of millions of rubles, which were stolen in preparation for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
“Accompanied by employees of the NCB of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, a citizen of one of the neighboring states, Ivan Vandyshev, was extradited from Spain. He is accused of large-scale fraud, ”Volk said. Her words leads Interfax.
According to the investigation, in 2013, Vandyshev’s company entered into a state contract for the execution of contract work for the construction of treatment facilities in the Krasnodar Territory. The work was carried out within the framework of the target program “Ensuring the construction of Olympic facilities and the development of the city of Sochi as a mountain climatic and balneological resort.”
According to the terms of the contract, the customer transferred over 1.2 billion rubles to the contractor’s accounts as an advance to carry out the necessary work.
“It was preliminarily established that Vandyshev, by entering inaccurate information about the cost of the equipment into the documents, withdrew the company from the turnover and appropriated almost 400 million rubles,” a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to Volk, in 2017, employees of the RF IC opened a criminal case against Vandyshev for fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
“Hiding from justice, Ivan Vandyshev left Russia and, on the basis of a request from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, was put on the international wanted list through Interpol channels,” said Irina Volk. In February 2020, the accused was detained in Spain.
