The Central Election Commission (CEC) has canceled the registration as a candidate for the State Duma of Sota journalist Elena Izotova, nominated on the federal list of the Yabloko party. About it it says in the Sota Telegram channel.
“To cancel the registration of the candidate Elena Aleksandrovna Izotova and exclude information about Elena Aleksandrovna Izotova from the federal list of candidates for the State Duma, nominated by the Yabloko party,” the publication quotes an excerpt from the commission’s resolution.
On the eve, Elena Izotova was removed from the elections by the decision of the appellate instance – the Supreme Court of Tatarstan. At the same time, as Sota emphasizes, no one notified her about its meeting. Izotova learned about the court’s decision from the anonymous pro-government Telegram channel “Zampolit Tataria”.
According to Sota, the reason for the removal of Izotova was her collaboration with the structures of Alexei Navalny, which the authorities in June of this year recognized as “extremist.” In particular, in 2019, Izotova wrote on social networks about joint observation of the elections with Navalny’s headquarters and urged to study observation there. In addition, in January of this year, she published a demand for the release of Navalny, “expressing dissatisfaction with the current government, and exposed them in a negative (negative) light,” Navalny himself.
