A municipal deputy of the Moscow district Kuntsevo filed a libel complaint against the TV presenter of “Russia 1” Yevgeny Popov with the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee (IC). About this he reported in the Telegram channel.
Popov is running for the State Duma this year from the 197th Kuntsevo constituency. According to Shenderovich, the “state generator of lies” at a meeting in the Mozhaisk district “publicly accused” him of money laundering and “some kind of criminal case”, because of which the police came to the deputy and he changed his name.
A fragment of this conversation got on the video, which Popov published on Instagram on August 25. When Shenderovich asked him about his nomination to the State Duma, the VGTRK employee said: “To the person who launders money, the police come to him, and he changes his name because of a criminal case, I will not answer. Have you stopped laundering money? “
At the end of July, Navalny’s team released an investigation into the elite real estate of Popov and his wife Olga Skabeeva – together they host the show “60 minutes” on the channel “Russia 1”. It turned out that employees of the state channel own housing in Moscow, the total cost of which is estimated at about 300 million rubles. We are talking, in particular, about a 170-meter apartment in the residential complex “VTB Arena Park” on Leningradsky Prospekt for 130 million rubles.
August 3 Mundep Shenderovich published in social networks, Popov’s income and property report, which is provided Mosgorizbirkom. It follows from the document that the total income of the TV presenter for 2020 amounted to 11.4 million rubles. The Insider at the same time wrotethat, according to the Pension Fund (PFR), last year Popov received 13.4 million rubles only from the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and the Rossiya TV channel. Earlier Insider also reported that Popov receives 12.9 million rubles a year. On the air of “Dozhd” the presenter is denied, noting that “I have never earned a million rubles a month.”
