As of September 3, 2021, there are 47 legal entities and individuals in the register of the Ministry of Justice.
Ex-journalists of the Project Olga Churakova, Yulia Lukyanova and Petr Manyakhin, as well as ex-journalists of Open Media Maxim Glikin and Yulia Yarosh were recognized as “foreign agents” on July 15 this year. Project Media, Inc., registered in the United States and recognized by the Russian authorities as an “undesirable organization”, was liquidated the next day.
Former Project journalist Sophia Groisman and former Open Media journalist Ilya Rozhdestvensky were included in the register of the Ministry of Justice on July 23, 2021. August 4 Roskomnadzor at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office blocked sites of “Open Media” and “MBH Media”.
On August 20, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included the Dozhd TV channel and the Internet publication Important Stories, registered in Latvia, in the register of media “foreign agents”. On the same day, the editor-in-chief of Vital Stories, Roman Anin, and other journalists of the publication: Alesya Marakhovskaya, Irina Dolinina, Roman Shleinov, Dmitry Velikovsky and Olesya Shmagun, were included in the list. Stepan Petrov, ex-head of the Yakutia – Our Opinion organization, was also added to the register. He also headed the regional branch of the national public organization For Human Rights. Both organizations were disbanded back in March.
