The Frunzensky Court of Vladivostok ruled to recover from the Ministry of Internal Affairs 10 thousand rubles in favor of Kirill Petrov, who was detained for a rally in support of Navalny on January 31. About this in the Telegram channel reported “Apology of protest” with reference to the lawyer Sergei Valiulin.
After the arrest, Petrov was taken to the police, where they drew up a protocol under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code (violation of the established procedure for holding a rally). Under this article, he was fined 15 thousand rubles.
In April, the Primorsky Regional Court declared this court decision illegal, canceled the fine and terminated the proceedings due to “the absence of an administrative offense.” Petrov then filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Internal Affairs for compensation for moral damage for unlawful persecution. The court on August 25 satisfied it in part. The decision in the case for compensation for harm in the winter protests was the first in Russia, notes “Apology of Protest”.
At the beginning of the year, actions were held throughout the country in support of Alexei Navalny, who was detained at Sheremetyevo. The most massive rallies were on January 23 and 31. According to OVD-Info, on January 31 shares detained more than 5.5 thousand people. In particular, in Vladivostok the security forces detained over 100 protesters. Several residents were fined, on some brought criminal cases on involving minors in unauthorized rallies.
