The Ministry of Justice of Russia has entered the movement of observers “Golos” into the new register of “foreign agents”. Organizations that do not have a legal entity in Russia go there, informs Interfax.
Golos became the first organization included in this list.
The Ministry of Justice announced plans to create a new register of “foreign agents” specifically for movements that do not have registration and legal entities in Russia in February 2021. The ministry maintains two more registers of “foreign agents” – one of them includes NGOs registered in Russia, and the other includes the mass media.
The Voter Rights Movement “Golos” was formed in 2013, after the association “Golos”, which had existed since 2000, was included in the register of NGOs – “foreign agents”. In 2016, the association was liquidated by a court at the suit of the Ministry of Justice.
