The Lithuanian authorities promise to pay 300 euros each to illegal migrants who agree to voluntarily leave the country. About it stated Head of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Evelina Gudzinskaite on the air of radio LRT.
The payment, she said, will be made when the migrant gets on a plane departing from Lithuania. Illegal migrants will receive 300 euros once and only if they fly to their country of origin.
In July, Lithuania declared an emergency regime due to the influx of migrants from the Middle East who enter the country from the territory of Belarus.
The government of the country decided to finance the construction from the state budget of a fence with barbed wire, 4 meters high and 508 km long. Its cost is estimated at about 150 million euros.
Since the beginning of the year, Lithuanian border guards have detained about 4 thousand illegal migrants, which is more than 40 times more than in the entire 2020. Lithuanian Prime Minister Shimonyte said that this is “hybrid aggression” by Alexander Lukashenko.
