In Paris, at the age of 84, a human rights activist, journalist and wife of dissident Alexander Ginzburg, Arina Ginzburg, died. About it reported on his Facebook page, literary critic Nikolai Podosokorsky.
The cause of death has not yet been specified.
Ginzburg was born in 1937 in Moscow. In 1959 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University, later she taught Russian for foreign students.
In 1968, Ginzburg took part in the campaign against the “Process of Four” – cases against Alexander Ginzburg, Yuri Galanskov, Alexei Dobrovolsky and Vera Lashkova. The defendants in the case were accused of anti-Soviet propaganda for compiling and publishing abroad the collection “White Book” with publications of the writers Andrei Sinyavsky and Julius Daniel.
Ginzburg also participated in the activities of the Fund for Assistance to Political Prisoners. After a while, she was forced to emigrate to France with her husband. In Paris, Ginzburg worked as deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper Russkaya Mysl.
