Russian synchronized swimmers Svetlana Romashina and Svetlana Kolesnichenko won the duet competition at the Tokyo Olympics.

Thus, Romashina became the first six-time Olympic champion in the history of synchronized swimming. Romashina also won the world championships 21 times and the European championships 13 times.

After the victory, the Russian athlete reportedthat he no longer plans to compete in the Olympics.

“I have a bar – Tokyo, I understand that these are my final Olympic Games, I am not young. Physical strength is not what it was at 18 years old. I’m floating on experience now. Not in my youth, freshness, I am not a zealous young horse that runs at full speed no matter where. Now I am an experienced horse! One that would think a hundred times “is it necessary to run somewhere at all,” Romashina said. According to her, she wants to devote her time to her family.

“My husband and child are waiting for me at home, and I really want a second child. No matter how difficult this year was while I was at home on maternity leave, I still really want a second child. I have already received a lot of offers about working as a coach, both in Russia and abroad, ” reported sportswoman in an interview with the YouTube channel KonOff.

Thus, Russia climbed to 5th place in the overall medal standings with 14 gold, 21 silver and 18 bronze awards.
