Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, blocked the sites of Open Media and MBH Media. This follows from the data service checking the restriction of access to sites.
The publications noted that the editorial staff did not receive any notifications about this – from the regulator or the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“At 19:03 Moscow time on August 4, four letters from the RKN arrived at the general address of the editorial board with a demand to remove the illegal information, but which information was not specified in the letters. The letters contain a standard phrase: “If the owner of an information resource has deleted information, … he sends a notification about it .. in order to verify and resume access,” reads the message of Open Media.
MBH Media posted a message on its website that access to the resource was limited by the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office on August 3. The agency refers to Article 15.3 of the Federal Law “On Information”, which concerns blocking calls for mass riots, extremist activities and participation in illegal mass events.
“We have not received any notifications. And we have never called for anything. They just want to destroy everyone, ”editor-in-chief Veronica Kutsyllo told The Insider.
Earlier, three employees of Open Media were included in the register of foreign media agents.
