Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced a bill to the State Duma allowing him to extend the term of service of the highest military ranks if they have reached the age limit, should from the text of the document published in the database of the lower house of parliament.
According to the bill, a new contract may be concluded with servicemen who have reached the age limit for service. In particular, the term of extension of service for marshals, army generals and admirals of the fleet will be appointed based on the decision of the president.
For colonel-generals and admirals, the service life will be extended to 70 years, for military men in a different rank – up to 65.
The explanatory note to the bill states that in some cases, the extension of the contract with the most experienced and highly qualified military is simply necessary.
