Irakli Zarkua, a member of the Georgian Dream, approached the journalists who had hung out the banners and asked to remove all the posters, but they refused to do so.
As stated by the leadership of the parliament, it is not possible to continue the session in this mode, the deputies will hear the Minister of Gomelauri on another day.
“In such circumstances, the continuation of the discussion really does not serve the purpose for which we have gathered and appointed an extraordinary meeting. Therefore, I declare today’s meeting closed. We will discuss this issue at another extraordinary meeting, ”said the Speaker of the Parliament Kakha Kuchava.
According to him, each of those present had time to protest, but after that everyone had to return to their duties, in particular, the journalists were supposed to cover the session, and not display banners.
Earlier it became known that the police detained 12 people at an opposition rally outside the headquarters of the ruling Georgian Dream party in Tbilisi.
The protests began after the Georgian authorities released preliminary data on the causes of death of TV Pirveli cameraman Alexander Lashkarava. According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, the cause of his death was “drug overdose.”
Lashkarava, who was beaten by opponents of the LGBT community on July 5, on July 11 was found dead in their own apartment.
More than 50 journalists in Tbilisi on July 5 suffered from the attack of opponents of the LGBT community, who opposed the March of Dignity. LGBTQ + representatives wanted to march along Rustaveli Avenue, but a few hours before the rally, representatives of the ultra-right, church parishioners and radical homophobes began to attack journalists and opposition representatives. Several people were hospitalized with serious injuries, including head injuries.
