In Nizhny Novgorod, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Perm Territory Elena Lopaeva was arrested in a case of fraud for 50 million rubles. She was charged under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on an especially large scale), the official is suspected of embezzling funds from the Assistance – XXI Century charitable foundation. She was taken into custody for two months, until March 23.
Lopaeva was detained on January 24 in Moscow. According to source URA.RU, she did not appear at the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia as part of the investigative measures being taken against her.
In 2020, Navalny’s headquarters in Perm published an investigation alleging that in August 2018 Lopaeva embezzled 5 million rubles without bidding and using charitable funds to repair the administration of the governor of the Perm Territory
