The UK authorities have decided to ease the restrictions imposed in connection with the spread of coronavirus from the end of January. He also said that Plan B, which was introduced due to the spread of the Omicron strain, would not be extended beyond January 25th and England would return to Plan A.
Johnson added that the UK will soon treat COVID-19 like a cold and lift the mandatory self-isolation requirement.
“As for self-isolation. Self-isolation is still a mandatory requirement for those with COVID-19. On Monday, we reduced the lockdown to five full days, subject to two negative tests. And the time will soon come when we can lift the mandatory requirement of self-isolation, just as we do not require mandatory isolation for people with a cold, ”he said.
According to Johnson, the number of coronavirus infections in the UK is declining. He also suggested that the omicron strain had reached its peak.
In the future, Johnson promised to ease the restriction on visits to nursing homes.
