In Kazakhstan, the General Director and Chairman of the Board of Kaztransoil JSC Dimash Dosanov and the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazTransGas Kairat Sharipbaev were fired, informs KazTAG with reference to an informed source. Dosanov and Sharipbaev are relatives of the country’s first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
“The decision (on the release of Dosanov and Sharipbaev from their posts) was made by the board of directors,” the agency’s interlocutor explained. This information confirmed state fund “Samruk-Kazyna”.
Dosanov is the husband of the youngest daughter of ex-president Aliya Nazarbayeva, and Sharipbaev is the husband of his eldest daughter Dariga Nazarbayeva. Both became top managers in energy companies shortly after marrying Nazarbayev’s daughters.
In the first days of 2022, protests began in Kazakhstan due to higher fuel prices. One of the slogans of the protesters was “Shal, ket!” (“Old man, go away!”). It is believed that he is directed against the country’s ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev, who, even after his resignation, retained significant powers.
Amid protests, incumbent President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev removed Nazarbayev from his most important post, chairman of the Kazakh Security Council. There were rumors that Nazarbayev and his relatives, accused in corruption, left the republic. But in the press service of the ex-president claimthat he remains at home.
