Kyrgyzstan will send its servicemen to Kazakhstan as part of the CSTO peacekeeping forces, reported Deputy of the Kyrgyz Parliament Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov. According to him, such a decision was made at a meeting on January 7. Formerly the country’s parliament did not get a quorumrequired to address this issue.
We will remind, on January 5, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev asked the CSTO member countries for help in the fight against the terrorist threat.
“Relying on the collective security treaty, today I turned to the heads of the CSTO states to help Kazakhstan overcome this terrorist threat. In fact, this is no longer a threat, it is an undermining of the integrity of the state, and the most important thing is an attack on our citizens who ask me, as the head of state, to urgently provide them with assistance, ”- stated Токаев.
Earlier it was reported that Russia sent 3,000 troops to Kazakhstan, Belarus – 500, Tajikistan – 200, and Armenia – 70.
On January 6, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov confirmed the readiness of the government and the president to help Kazakhstan and, to the extent necessary, fulfill their allied obligations within the framework of the CSTO.
