In Moscow, the Channel One program “Fashionable Sentence” decided to please children with cancer before the holidays by arranging a New Year’s party for them with Santa Claus and Snegurochka. However, after the end of the performance, which the children watched from the windows of the hospital, instead of toys and sweets, the organizers handed them empty gift boxes, wrote on Instagram, a volunteer at the Russian Cancer Research Center (RONTs) named after V.I. Blokhina Victoria Biryukova. The press service of Channel One told The Insider that they had no direct relation to what had happened, but promised to investigate the situation.
According to Biryukova, Father Frost sent by Channel One left 4 bags of gifts. “Imagine my surprise, or rather a shock, when there were empty sets of boxes in the bags, without gifts for children! Many different sets of boxes, folded according to the principle of matryoshka – one inside the other. And that’s all, ”Biryukova explained.
According to the volunteer, she experienced bitterness and shame. She had to apologize for what happened to the parents of the children for several days.
The organizers of the New Year’s performance told Biryukova that the gifts were stolen, in connection with which they would write a statement to the police. “Silence for now. Nobody asks me anything. I don’t know how to explain all this, ”added Biryukova. She wonders how “such a theft happened on a federal channel, and no one saw anything.”
Later, representatives of Modniy Verdict contacted her, according to Biryukova, and offered her a “consolation prize”: 100 chocolate eggs for 300 children. At the same time, the TV people complained that Channel One now has no money.
“If they had warned us in advance about their difficult financial situation, we would have the whole world, or rather the whole team, again would have collected gifts for the children (like a week before this nightmare we congratulated the children by bringing gifts with our“ Gazelka Dobra ”campaign), if only there was no such shame! ”- added Biryukova.
According to her, she received an offer to arrange a New Year’s party for the children from Channel One after a year ago, at the request of mothers of sick children, she took part in the “Magic of the Year” program of the “Fashionable Sentence” program. At the same time, the volunteers covered all the additional expenses for organizing a street performance with sound-amplifying equipment. Channel One only singled out a brigade of artists with Ded Moroz and Snegurochka.
The press service of Channel One did not answer specific questions about the incident with the gifts, but assured The Insider that they would figure out what had happened. “Channel One had nothing to do with this action and learned about it from the press. The action was carried out by the producer of “Modniy Verdict” company “Krasny Kvadrat”. Now the channel understands the situation, ”the press service explained.
Also, after publications in the media, Ilya Krivitsky, the producer of Modniy Verdict and the general director of the Krasny Kvadrat company, apologized for the incident. “Within the framework of the announced campaign, gifts were collected for the patients of the center. Blokhin in the amount of 30 pieces. All these gifts were delivered to the addressees, – said he published “Rise”. “As it turned out, not 30, but 300 gifts were expected in the center, about which we did not agree and did not know. The empty boxes fell into the bag with gifts by mistake, for which we sincerely apologize.”
Krivitsky promised, “since we are talking about children, to rectify the situation” and send so many gifts to the hospital that they would be enough for everyone. Gift delivery is scheduled for January 3rd.
