Recall that the site “OVD-info” was blocked in the morning of December 25th. It turned out that the blocking took place by the decision of the Lukhovitsky court of the Moscow region. Later Roskomnadzor demanded remove OVD-Info accounts from social networks. The decision to block it was made by the Lukhovitsky District Court of the Moscow Region.
According to the text of the court decision, the information of the media project “aimed at justifying the activities of extremist and terrorist associations, justifying the actions of participants in such organizations, posted on the information resource of the non-profit foreign agent, as well as in the accounts of the organization’s social networks” is considered prohibited.
The OVD-Info project was founded in December 2011 by Moscow journalist Grigory Okhotin and programmer Daniil Beilinson. They witnessed mass arrests of participants in the rally on December 5, 2011 against fraud in the parliamentary elections.
OVD-Info monitors politically motivated persecutions and cases of abuse of authority by Russian police officers in relation to detainees. The project provides legal assistance, coverage of protests, and publishes reports on violations of civil rights.
September 29, 2021 Ministry of Justice of Russia included “OVD-Info” to the register of unregistered public associations performing the functions of a “foreign agent”.
