The State Security Committee of Belarus has recognized the Gathering platform as an “extremist formation”. About it it says in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus.
According to the department, the corresponding decision was made on December 13. In addition to the “Gathering”, Telegram chats “Boulevard of the Unsubdued” and “97% Chausy” were recognized as “extremist formations”.
“Gathering” is a digital platform that allows Belarusians to nominate and elect their representatives and representatives in order to “defend our interests in the national dialogue”.
In August of this year, the security forces conducted searches of a number of the “Gathering” delegates, including the former ambassador to Slovakia, Igor Leshchenya. Leshchenya was detained, after 10 days he was released. Through his daughter, the former diplomat conveyed that he “retained the status of a suspect,” but did not specify in what case, since he signed a non-disclosure agreement.
