According to Landsbergis, the Lithuanian government has no legal opportunity to terminate the deal with Belaruskali, since the amount of possible damage in case of termination of the contract will amount to 500 million euros.
The day before, Landsbergis announced that he intends to resign if the information is confirmed, according to which the Belarusian company Belaruskali made an advance payment under an agreement with the Lithuanian state railway company Lietuvos Gelezhinkeliai for cargo transportation, despite the effective US sanctions.
