The offshore accounts of Russian officials from the Pandora Papers cannot be verified or verified. About it stated in the Anti-Corruption Department of the Presidential Administration of Russia in response to a request from Novaya Gazeta and Transparency International – Russia.
“The Pandora Archive is an unstructured set of fragmentary data, virtually anonymous, which, in accordance with the law, cannot be used to identify, verify or confirm any significant circumstances,” the response says.
According to the presidential administration, no violations of the current Russian legislation were found in the publications of the Pandora’s Archive, since they do not contain information about the foreign accounts of officials, the owners of which they would have remained after August 7, 2013, that is, after the law on a ban on foreign assets for officials.
The Pandora Archive was published October 3 by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). It consists of 12 million documents with data on the owners of offshore companies from around the world. The archive with this information was obtained by the ICIJ from an undisclosed source. This is the result of the work of more than 600 journalists from more than 150 media outlets from 117 countries of the world, who have at their disposal the internal archive of 14 offshore registrars. On behalf of Russia, journalists from Vostochnye Stories took part in the investigation.
