On the morning of November 25, smoke began to form at the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo Region. By 13:30 it became known about 11 dead miners and 43 injured.
The first reports of smoke at a depth of 250 m began to arrive at emergency services at about 9 am local time (5:00 Moscow time), at the same time the evacuation of mine workers began. informs RBC.
According to the regional government, at the time of the smoke, there were 285 people in the mine, 239 of them were brought to the surface. According to the latest data from the authorities, at least 14 people were killed – 11 miners and three rescuers who went in search of the mine. The fate of three more rescuers remains unknown, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said earlier.
The investigation considers the explosion of methane to be the preliminary cause of the emergency at the mine. The governor of the Kemerovo region, Sergei Tsivilev, announced a three-day mourning for the victims in the region.
