The World Court in Cheboksary fined the former head of Navalny’s local headquarters, Semyon Kochkin, 2,000 rubles for Twitter posts he made in 2019-2021. About it informs “7×7” with reference to the lawyer Roman Raimov, representing the interests of Kochkin.
The activist was fined for mentioning the Anti-Corruption Foundation and Navalny’s headquarters on the social network without indicating that both organizations were recognized as extremist and banned in Russia. At the same time, Kochkin published posts before the decision to ban the fund and headquarters came into force.
The police opened a case against Semyon Kochkin under an article on the dissemination of information about a liquidated and banned organization without mentioning this status (part 2 of article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The protocol (7×7 has a copy of the document) says that Kochkin’s page was checked in August 2021 by an employee of the FSB in Chuvashia and found that the activist on his Twitter page mentioned Navalny’s headquarters in Cheboksary and the Anti-Corruption Foundation without any labeling.
The policeman indicated that the statute of limitations for prosecution has not expired, since the offense is ongoing and must be counted from the moment of detection – that is, from August 2021. As a result, the judge fined Kochkin.
Earlier, Semyon Kochkin left Russia after the initiation of administrative cases and two fines for demonstrating the prohibited symbols of “Smart Vote” and the headquarters of Alexei Navalny on social networks.
