Last weekend, a group of illegal migrants also threw stones of Polish policemen, trying to break through the Belarusian-Polish border. Another group of 50 illegal immigrants managed to destroy part of the fence on the border and broke into the territory of Poland. The police detained 22 of them. The detainees turned out to be citizens of Iraq.
In addition to the migrants, the police also detained four people who helped the migrants cross the border. Among them were two citizens of Georgia, as well as citizens of Poland and Syria. According to law enforcement officers, they transported 13 people who crossed the border illegally.
The situation on the border between Poland and Belarus worsened last week, when several thousand migrants from the Middle East approached the border with Poland from the Belarusian side, wishing to move to the EU. Polish officials have described what is happening as the most difficult moment since the beginning of the crisis on the border.
It became known yesterday that more than a hundred people – migrants from Syria and Iraq with backpacks and tents – intend to leave Minsk in the near future for a refugee camp on the border with Poland. In the city center, they are literally guarded by the police, and people in civilian clothes are in control of the situation.
